Tax-free weekend kicked off in SC on Friday drawing busy crowds at Lowcountry stores as customers take advantage of the tax break.
There will be a “Tax Free Weekend” observed from Friday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 7 on clothing and school supplies. “You know people need to be patient as they are parking and you know if you have small children be cognizant of their surrounding and where they are at cause you know again we can get a little distracted. and then be safe of your surroundings”.
Since sales tax is calculated after the use of any coupons or discounts, if the final price is less than $100, the sale is exempt from taxes.
“I think it’s fabulous. We also have an online option, so they can still take advantage of our tax free weekend should they be out of state”.

At shops taking part in the “Better than Tax-Free” weekend at Concord Mills, Charlotte Premium Outlets, and SouthPark Mall, it’s 15 percent off the entire store. Representatives with Best Buy say they have a student discount for electronic items that runs through September 10.
