DraftKings and FanDuel are waging a very public legal battle with the attorney general, who last week ordered the sites to cease operations in NY because the contests they offer constitute illegal gambling, per state law. The company also included a slide with charts showing the projected growth of the global online poker and online betting markets, and figures on how much cash was wagered in Nevada’s sports books.

FanDuel said it hopes to open back up to NY players after that hearing.
“Yahoo does not comment on legal matters”, a spokesman said in a statement.

The inquiry into fantasy sports sites FanDuel and DraftKings in NY has added Yahoo as a subject as well.
DraftKings, which is based in Boston, said it would continue to take entries for customers in NY.
In Tuesday’s court filing, the attorney general accused both sites of encouraging employees to play on competing sites.
In their own statement, a spokesperson for Fan Duel said, “We maintain, unequivocally, that FanDuel has always complied with state and federal law”.
On Friday, November 13, both companies asked a judge to block Schneiderman’s order and declare their businesses aren’t gambling.
A state judge Monday rejected the requests of FanDuel and DraftKings to issue a restraining order to prevent Attorney General Eric Schneiderman from shutting down the fantasy sports operations in NY.
One popular fantasy sports company has now blocked a few of it’s most active players in North America – New Yorkers. “It’s more unsafe, I think, than a brick-and-mortar casino”.
“According to The NY Times, the NY attorney general has had a historic role as a consumer-protection advocate, and as a result Schneiderman’s action is likely to reverberate in other states where legislators and investigators are questioning whether the industry should operate unfettered or under regulations that govern legalized gambling”. For DraftKings, this has meant aligning itself closely and negotiating sponsorships with other gambling ventures, like the World Series of Poker and the Belmont Stakes. DFS bettors can guess as to how players might perform but “no bettor – no matter how shrewd or sophisticated – can control or influence whether those athletes will succeed”. There are plenty of formulas and algorithms out there to predict which players to play each week; at the end of the day they are just formulas predicting the game of football, which is about as unpredictable as sports get.

If there are algorithms and formulas to increase the likelihood of winning money each week, go learn and master them.
