NY blast suspect arrested
Twenty-nine people were injured Saturday night when a pressure-cooker bomb exploded inside a dumpster in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

After the September 11 attacks, surveillance cameras were added in lower Manhattan, inspired by the “Ring of Steel” in London’s financial district, developed in the 1990s, NBC News reports.
Ahmad Khan Rahami, a 28-year-old naturalized USA citizen from Elizabeth, New Jersey, was taken into custody hours after authorities identified him as the prime suspect in the Saturday night blast.
According to ABC News, the suspect and two police officers – although later reports said four officers – were wounded in the shootout and, after being placed in custody, Rahami was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital to have his wounds treated, although the extent of those injuries was not immediately clear.
“We want to get this guy in for questioning”, de Blasio said on CNN.
One of the five devices found at the Elizabeth train station exploded while a bomb squad robot tried to disarm it.
Two weekend bombings and two thwarted attacks in NY and New Jersey put Manhattan on high alert as President Barack Obama and other world leaders prepared to gather for the annual United Nations summit.
Around the time Rahami was taken into custody, President Barack Obama was in NY on a previously scheduled visit for a meeting of the U.N. General Assembly, and said it was “extremely fortunate” nobody was killed in the bombings.
A New Jersey congressman briefed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation says the man arrested in the New York-area bombing case needed several surgeries for gunshot wounds to his leg, forearm and shoulder and that it’s unclear when he’ll be out of a hospital.
Boyce said the two men were seen picking up the bag containing the device, removing it and then leaving with the bag, for reasons that remains unclear.
“New York Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday afternoon confirmed that the bombings in New York and New Jersey on Saturday night are being treated as terrorism”.
Linden Mayor Derek Armstead said the break in the case came Monday morning, when the owner of a bar reported someone asleep in his doorway.
“They were in good spirits”, Mr. Obama said of the officers.
She wouldn’t provide further details, but a government official and a law enforcement official who were briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press that five people in the auto were being questioned at an FBI building in lower Manhattan.
“The investigation is active and ongoing, and it is being investigated as an act of terror”, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said in Lexington, Kentucky.
Electronic toll records show a vehicle to which he had access was driven from New Jersey to Manhattan and back to New Jersey the day of the bombing, according to the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the case.
Authorities are investigating whether the bombings and explosive devices were related.
As authorities tried to unravel who planted the device and why, one New Yorker, Anthony Stanhope, 40, knew exactly what had just happened.
Earlier that same day, there was an explosion at a charity race in New Jersey, the Times wrote.
The FBI has released the picture and name of a man wanted for questioning in the New York City bombing on Saturday.
He said the men were being sought as potential witnesses.

But while condemning what she called “the twisted ideology of terrorists”, she claims groups like IS have been using her Republican rival Donald Trump as a recruiting tool.
