NY bomb suspect arrested after shootout
Mayor Chris Bollwage of Elizabeth, New Jersey, said Ahmad Khan Rahami was taken into custody after firing at police officers in Linden, New Jersey.

According to police, Rahami is a naturalized US citizen from Afghanistan with an address in Elizabeth. The officer shot in the torso was wearing a bulletproof vest. Early Monday morning, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released a picture of Rahami and sent notifications to iPhone users warning them Rahami is armed and risky. He was shot in the leg before he was taken into custody. Though the investigation is still ongoing, it has been confirmed that Rahami’s last known address was located in Elizabeth, suggesting he might also be connected to the New Jersey bombings as well.
No other suspects are being sought in relation to the case. Rahami is a USA citizen of Afghan descent.
When I was speaking to Governor Cuomo and Governor Christie and Mayor De Blasio, one point that they all made is, folks around here, they don’t get scared.
They claimed they and their business were targeted because they are Muslims. “We do not, and never will, give in to fear”. The Saturday bombing in New Jersey involved the explosion of a garbage can close to the starting line of a Marine Corps charity run.
The latest incident was Sunday night in Elizabeth, New Jersey, about 15 miles southwest of the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan. No one was hurt in that blast.
Rahami was identified by officials on surveillance video planting the bombs in Chelsea, both the device that exploded on 23rd Street and another that did not detonate a few blocks away. A bomb squad removed it.
Who is Ahmad Khan Rahami?
Officials haven’t revealed any details about the makeup of the pressure-cooker device, except to say it had wires and a cellphone attached to it. The system, which is more commonly used for Amber Alerts or extreme weather warnings, let users know that Rahami was a wanted person, and that his official photo could be viewed online. Early Monday, FBI agents swarmed the apartment. One robot was destroyed, the other heavily damaged. A news agency linked to ISIS has since reported that the group has taken responsibility for the attacks, though it’s still unclear whether Aden had indeed had any contact with the group.
Ahmad Khan Rahami was wanted for questioning over a succession of blasts in NY and New Jersey.
Meanwhile, I know that the United Nations meetings here every year already create an additional workload for NY.
The complaints were related to the restaurant violating city ordinances by staying open too late. The lawsuit was eventually terminated in 2012 after one of the brothers, Mohammed K. Rahami, pleaded guilty to blocking police from enforcing restrictions on the restaurant.
With Rahami’s arrest, officials said they have no indication there are more bombs or suspects to find, though they cautioned that they are still working to understand Rahami’s connections. She dropped the charges after he was arrested.
Federal authorities conducted a traffic stop of a “vehicle of interest” in the Chelsea bombing Sunday night in Brooklyn.
