His fingerprints and DNA were found at the scene of the Manhattan bombing, they said. Was he working alone?

These are among the questions that have emerged in the wake of the capture of the man suspected of planting bombs in NY and New Jersey over the weekend.

Rahami, who lived with his family above the First American Fried Chicken restaurant in Elizabeth, New Jersey, is also suspected of planting a bomb that exploded on the New Jersey shore on Saturday, a device found near the NY blast, and up to six more devices found near the Elizabeth train station on Sunday night.

Ahmad Khan Rahami is taken into custody after a shootout with police Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, in Linden, N.J. Rahami was wanted for questioning in the bombings that rocked the Chelsea neighborhood of NY and the New Jersey sho. The law enforcement officials said at least one of Rahami’s relatives was in the auto. His bail has been set at $5.2 million.

He became a citizen of the United States in 2011.

Rahami’s last known address was in Elizabeth, New Jersey, just north of Linden. Police were looking into whether he was radicalised overseas, CNN said.

Rahami indiscriminately opened fired on police, officials said, injuring another officer with broken glass that struck his forehead.

The chase ended when Rahami was shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital for surgery.

In 2013, Rahami went to Pakistan and remained there for a year.

There was no immediate evidence as to what motivated the bombings and there was no indication that an extremist cell was operating in the area, William Sweeney, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, told a news conference in NY.

Initially, a garbage can explosion at a Marine Corps charity race in Seaside Park, New Jersey, Saturday morning seemed to be an isolated incident.

No one was injured in the New Jersey explosion.

Then an explosion Saturday night in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood injured 29 people.

Five suspicious devices have been found in a backpack near a train station in New Jersey, with one exploding during attempts to disarm it. This frame from surveillance video released by the New Jersey State Police shows Ahmad Khan Rahami, wanted for questioning Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, in bombings that rocked the Chelsea neighborhood of NY and the Ne.

About 10 minutes later, surveillance video showed the same man with the same duffel bag on West 27th Street, near the site of the second bomb.

Late Sunday night, five explosive devices were discovered in a trash can at an Elizabeth train station.

Bains’ phone call led authorities to the bar, which is about three miles south of where police found a backpack containing bombs.

As bomb technicians deployed a robot to examine the devices, one of the bombs detonated.

Trump added: “Who knows what the reason is”.

Rahami was born in Afghanistan and came to the United States along with his father in 1995, seeking asylum.

The extent of Rahami’s injuries have not been reported. While in Pakistan in July 2011, he married a Pakistani woman.

Investigators are probing whether he was radicalised overseas before returning to the USA in 2014. At that time, he told immigration officials he was visiting family and attending his uncle’s wedding and renewing his Pakistani visa, officials said.

His family runs First American Fried Chicken in Elizabeth, Mayor Chris Bollwage said.

Rahami’s family, who runs a 24-hour chicken restaurant in Elizabeth, has a history of clashes with neighbours over the timing of the eatery.

In 2011, the family sued the city and its police department, alleging discrimination and harassment against Muslims stemming from disputes over the restaurant’s hours. Investigators searched the building on Monday, the mayor said.

Substantial police presence notwithstanding, life in NY appears to have returned to normal.

The attacks came as world leaders prepared to gather at the United Nations in NY for the annual General Assembly this week, just days after the 15th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

US President Barack Obama was to meet Monday with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and, later, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel. Federal prosecutors said they were still weighing charges over the bombings. “That’s the kind of strength that makes me so proud to be an American”.
