NY Dems energized by nomination contest, GOP divided
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz received some advice about the upcoming NY primary from Donald Trump played by Jimmy Fallon in a skit on Thursday. Ted Cruz swept the Wyoming state Republican party convention Saturday, taking all 14 GOP delegate slots up for grabs in the state. These delegates are free to vote against Trump on convention rules, possibly elevating Cruz, John Kasich or even a nominee not in the race right now. “Trump wins in states where we have to win to win the presidency”.

69-year-old Trump – who did not actively campaign in the state – remains the Republican front-runner overall.
The number of votes needed to elect a candidate at the Republican National Convention is 1,237.
Trump has been critical of the process, again on Saturday calling it “rigged” while speaking at a rally in Syracuse, New York. The rules governing the nominating process, however, have been clear at least since last October, when each state’s procedures for picking delegates were finalized and revealed to all the candidates.
The three southern states were key Trump victories in their primary contests, while Cruz won in Kansas’ caucuses and Wyoming’s convention. Forty-four percent of likely voters didn’t know that Kasich was born here, and 95 percent said this fact had no bearing on whom they would vote for.
The crowd here was clearly in Cruz’s corner, as the Texas senator was the only candidate to make the trip to Casper – ahead of a major snowstorm – and Sarah Palin, scheduled to speak for Trump, previously canceled. Yet anyone uncomfortable with the possible Zodiac killer’s presence in their news feed should take heart, because one his strongest detractors just joked about committing suicide (for the second time) if Cruz were to win his party’s nomination in July. “I mean that’s it. I don’t think this is very hard”, Christie said.
Though George Clooney spent the weekend supporting Hillary Clinton- he hosted two campaign fundraisers for the Democratic candidate- he couldn’t help but answer a question about Donald Trump in an interview that aired Sunday on Meet the Press.
Jessica Fernandez, president of the Miami Young Republicans, won a delegate seat from the 24th District.
Yue and others say under the Roberts rules, it would be easier for the convention’s delegates to vote to block an effort by the convention’s presiding officer to consider new nominees for president. He said given the “politically charged environment” it doesn’t make sense for the RNC’s rules panel to recommend any changes to the current nomination process, particularly because the delegates in Cleveland will ultimately decide how to go about it anyway.
“While the majority of Trump supporters and people who don’t pay as much attention to how the process works are seeing this and saying, ‘Wait a minute, something’s rotten in the state of Denmark, ‘ the reality is these are complex rules that were put in place months ago, which every campaign is subject to”, he said. No Cruz or Trump supporters could be found on the list.

“If you want to ask a girl to the prom, you don’t tell her how ugly she is the week before”, Barbour said. But Manafort has yet to deliver results for Trump when it comes to siphoning delegates from Cruz. “Heidi and I we are fighting for you we are fighting for you”.
