NY inmates re-jailed after treatment for apparent overdose
At least four more inmates “will be charged by the end of the day with promoting prison contraband, ” in addition to two inmates who were charged with the misdemeanor on Monday, according to Westchester County Commissioner of Public Safety George Longworth.

County police spokesman Kieran O’Leary says the number of prisoners sickened has risen to 13 since July 12.
Deron unusual, 31 years old, of Port Chester, N.Y., was accused of possessing the remains of a burned, hand-rolled cigarette, according to Westchester County Police.
Westchester County Police say Sunday officers were called to the county jail in Valhalla around 3 p.m.
He would not comment on reports suggesting they were in care because of drug overdoses. They said James Graziano, being held on a parole violation, had a plastic bottle that was altered into a pipe.
The investigation continues to determine what substance the inmates ingested, apparently by smoking it, and how they obtained it.
Police are now investigating the drug that resulted in the inmates’ hospitalization and how it got into the jail.
He said all visitors to the jail are searched, and all prisoners are strip-searched, before and after all visits.

The inmates have been reportedly discovered collectively in a single wing of the jail complicated. The sickened inmates were housed in blocks in the original facility, so the sweep was originating there with the rest of the jail to follow, he said.
