NY Jets vs. Houston Texans

The Jets took on the Bills on Thursday night last week, at home.

Yates showed a tendency to hold the ball for a little too long, yet the Jets only got one sack against him in this game. To be honest, the Jets shouldn’t even be talking about the NFL Playoffs right now.

With as bad as everything had gone for three-plus quarters, falling behind by 14 points and losing cornerback Darrelle Revis to injury and having receivers drop his passes all over the place, Ryan Fitzpatrick had a chance to get the Jets to overtime if somehow he could manage one more touchdown.

Richardson has 19 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in five games after being suspended the first four for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. “When he comes back, when he’s healthy, he’ll come back in there and we’ve spoken to T.J”.

The game was tied in the third quarter when the TD pass by Shorts made it 17-10. Of course that is easier said than done, but if Houston can keep up the good defense and improve offensively as we head down the stretch you never know. “He is in here working extra to gain a better edge of this offense, and we are doing a good job of helping him out, doing things after practice and before practice with him”.

Yates was 16-of-34 for 229 yards on the day, and says he still has room for improvement, despite the two wins he authored. Preferred starter Brian Hoyer suffered a concussion during a 10-6 win over Cincinnati in Week 10, and his status remains unclear a week later.

Mangold left early in the second quarter. Hopkins beat CB Darrelle Revis on the play, and later beat CB Marcus Williams for a 20-yard score after Revis exited with a concussion.

To the surprise of no one, reigning Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt has led the charge. He ran the ball four times for 26 yards.

The momentum shift was brief.

The Texans ran seven plays with either Shorts or Grimes taking a direct snap in the Wildcat package during the game.

Pryor missed three games, while Cromartie sat out against Buffalo. And he threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Alfred Blue.

The Jets defense forced a three-and-out, but Fitzpatrick threw a fourth-down interception to Eddie Pleasant with 2:47 left.

The playoff window is narrowing for the Jets. If Yates starts again next week and leads the Texans to their fourth consecutive win, O’Brien may feel compelled to leave him under center when Hoyer returns despite claims to the contrary. And they’re unlucky. After racking up +8 in turnover differential in the season’s first two games, they’ve since posted a -6.

The Jets got within a score when they came down the field on the back of Ryan Fitzpatrick, running back Bilal Powell, and Eric Decker.
