Sunday night: At a train station in Elizabeth, N.J., Federal Bureau of Investigation technicians working on one of five bombs in a backpack that was initially discovered in a trash can detonate the bomb.

The raid in Elizabeth came hours after an explosive device left near a train station there blew up when a bomb squad robot cut a wire on the mechanism, the mayor said.
Sen. Martin Golden said in an Instagram post Sunday night the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested several people with a possible connection to the bombings beneath the Verrazzano Bridge.
The man taken into custody for questioning about bombings in NY and New Jersey lived with his family above a restaurant owned by his father, a few miles from Newark Liberty International Airport. A flip phone appeared to serve as the timer for both devices.
Homeland Security has also arrived at the scene in Linden. His last known address was in Elizabeth, N.J.
The suspect wanted in the NY and New Jersey bombings over the weekend is in custody after a shootout with police in Linden, New Jersey. That explosion injured 29 people, all of whom were treated and released from the hospital. A pressure cooker device was also found blocks away, but it didn’t explode.
After discovering the fingerprint and combing through surveillance videos the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) posted a tweet with four photos of Rahami.
The FBI said it conducted a traffic stop on a “vehicle of interest” on Sunday, but no one was charged with a crime. The bomb was in a trash can along the route of a 5K charity run for the Marine Corps.
“The FBI is investigating the Minnesota incident as a potential act of terrorism”.
The Department of Homeland Security is actively monitoring and participating in the investigations in NY and New Jersey. “I don’t know what they’re made up of”, said Bollwage of the package.
The discovery of Tannerite may be important as authorities probe whether the two New York City devices and the pipe bomb at the Jersey shore are connected. “We’re not taking any options off the table”.
The explosions came days before world leaders prepared to gather at the United Nations in NY for the annual General Assembly.
It has been said though that a suspicious package had been found close to where Rahami was arrested and the police are now investigating its contents. Was it a personal motivation?
The Manhattan blast took place on West 23rd Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in an area frequented by shoppers and diners. Investigators believe the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster, a law enforcement source told CNN.
A law enforcement official said investigators regard Rahami as the “main guy” in the two explosions but plan to look into whether any others had a role.
