Law enforcement is now looking for a suspect in the bombings, 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalized citizen from Afghanistan, according to The Guardian.

He is a naturalised citizen from Afghanistan.

Investigators are combing for clues to the cause of the explosion that rocked Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood and injured at least 29 people last night – an incident that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said today was not likely an global act of terrorism.

Cuomo, touring the site of Saturday’s blast that injured 29 people in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, said the unexploded pressure cooker device appeared “similar in design” to the bomb that exploded in Chelsea, but he didn’t provide details.

Cuomo said that, while the bombs discovered in Manhattan and New Jersey were not identical, there were “certain commonalities” among the chemicals and technologies used.

Investigators found similarities between the explosives used in both states, according to multiple law enforcement officials, but authorities said they have not concluded the incidents are linked.

He noted that the device in Manhattan appeared to be different than a pipe bomb explosion earlier Saturday in New Jersey and said he didn’t believe the two were connected. The New Jersey race was cancelled and no one was injured.

Late Sunday, five suspicious devices were found near a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey. A pressure cooker device was also found blocks away, that did not explode. The statement said no one has been charged with a crime.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents are questioning five people over the explosion that injured 29 people in a crowded Manhattan neighbourhood.

Authorities said Sunday that there wasn’t a further credible threat, but at least one call was made to police warning that there were more bombs after the New York City blast.

But the three devices planted in the area came just days before world leaders descend on NY for a meeting of the United Nations general assembly. No one was injured in that blast.

Probe into weekend blasts in NY, NJ leads to signs of a possible terror cell, law enforcement officials say.

Cuomo said the investigation is ongoing, and “I wouldn’t be surprised if it zeroes in on a particular individual, today even”, and that he “wouldn’t be surprised if we found a foreign connection to the act”.

No injuries were reported as a result of the explosion, according to The Guardian.

The New York Police Department says the controlled detonation took place at a police facility in the Bronx on Sunday evening. It wasn’t clear when the Elizabeth station would be open, a threat to cause major issues on the Monday morning commute into NY.

“Any street, any incident in New York City … most of the time that’s captured on video surveillance”, he said. After walking with the extremely heavy bag for about 1,000 feet, the men put it down, and notice wires protruding from it.
