A man was taken into custody by NY police Thursday night after allegedly flying a drone into the Empire State Building. He was arrested after the drone crashed, falling to a landing on the 35th floor.

In the ever growing list of high-profile landmarks that seem to be a target for drone disasters, New York’s Empire State Building can now join the club.
Riddle was charged with reckless endangerment, misdemeanor criminal mischief and with violation of law – that being avigation, or navigation of aircraft, in and over New York City.
Security guards at the Empire State Building called police after Riddle, who is in his late 20s and from Jersey City, entered the building and asked them for help, The New York Times reported.
The unfortunate enthusiast later revealed that he was trying to take photos of the building.

NY doesn’t have any laws specifically outlawing use of drones in the city, but pilots can face reckless endangerment charges in cases where police determine they are posing a public risk.
