Police say Mattice, 24, voluntarily surrendered to police on Friday. State Police say she answered their questions but gave no further information. She had claimed she was abducted while on a camping trip in Hamilton County and held in a small shed against her will.
State Police say an upstate NY woman who claimed to have been abducted by a bearded man fabricated the entire story.
Mattice is due in Mayfield Town court on August 9.
The newspaper says investigators didn’t reveal what Mattice was doing during her two-week disappearance.
On July 12, police released a sketch of a man that was being sought in Mattice’s disappearance.
An upstate NY woman who told police she was abducted by a odd man for two weeks and held hostage inside a wood shed has now been arrested for making up the crime.
Rachael Mattice, the woman who went missing for two weeks, triggering a wide-scale search before she turned up, has been arrested on charges of falsely reporting an incident.

Officials said Mattice’s account was “all made up” but that she is sticking with her abduction story. Police would not provide any other details of that investigation during the press conference. The price tag for the search and investigation is now in the six-figures.
