NYT says no libel, no retraction, no apology for Trump story

Leeds story was one of two in the Times report published Wednesday night that Trump touched them inappropriately, allegations that were swiftly followed by a similar claim in People magazine.

“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful – I just start kissing them”.

The letter declining to remove the article came from New York Times lawyer David McCraw in response to a demand for retraction from the presidential candidate. Speaking on the stump in Florida yesterday, Mr Trump insisted that the claims of sexual assault published in the Times, as well as those from several other women published elsewhere, were evidence of attempts by “the political establishment” to derail his campaign.

Not knowing what else will come out, Trump is accusing the media of conspiring with the Clinton campaign. But in each of the first three instances, the newspapers spoke to people close to the women – a universe that includes friends, family members, significant others and colleagues – who verified that they told them their stories about what they say happened months or years ago. Senator Kelly Ayotte said over the weekend that she no longer plans to vote for him. “It was an assault”, she added. He shut the door “and within seconds, he was pushing me against the wall, and forcing his tongue down my throat”. Crooks alleged her incident occurred in 2005.

The woman told Burnett: “Trump took Tic Tacs, suggested I take them also”.

One woman, Jessica Leeds, told The New York Times she had a disgusting encounter with Trump 30 years ago. “I was so upset that he thought I was so insignificant that he could do that”.

She fled to the back of the plane.

The soap opera actress in the video that has rocked the presidential campaign said Donald Trump’s comments were offensive.

“And her specialty, if you look over the years, has been character assassination and really personally just going after people, that’s her specialty”, he said. Crooks told the Times that she met Trump in an elevator and introduced himself.

Jessica Leeds, 74, of NY, said she sat beside Trump in the first-class cabin of a flight to NY more than three decades ago.

Trump has faced heavy criticism over his alleged treatment of women since video and audio captured on a hot microphone in 2005 was obtained by The Washington Post and published on Friday.

“When you’re a star, they let you do it”.

The New York Times reported two women’s detailed accounts of Mr Trump groping them.

The dizzying array of charges – likely a reaction to Trump’s blanket denial of sexual misconduct during Sunday’s presidential debate – depict an egotistical celebrity willing to accost women whenever the mood struck. “I’m the campaign manager as he runs for president”.

Yahoo News reported that she had called Trump a “misogynist” in a Facebook post, and said in a comment that he had “continually grabbed my ass and invited me to his hotel room”.
