British Prime Minister David Cameron appeared in high spirits when he appeared briefly outside his Downing Street office on Monday to outline this week’s timetable for his resignation.

David Cameron will be leaving 10 Downing Street on Wednesday – nine weeks earlier than planned – after another breathtaking day in Westminster saw the Tory leadership contest cut short.

Just weeks after Britain opted to leave the European Union – something the Conservative leader campaigned against – it’s all change at No.1o, with Theresa May expected to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on Wednesday.

“More than 300 have been created since I became Prime Minister and 200 are set to open meaning tens of thousands more young people, many from disadvantaged areas, finally have a choice of a good education that helps them reach their full potential”.

Suggestions have included the closing theme to U.S. political drama The West Wing, the Great Escape or simply a Winnie-The-Pooh style hum.

“I think Andrea Leadsom has made absolutely the right decision to stand aside and it’s clear Theresa May has the overwhelming support of the Conservative parliamentary party”.

As is the case with many former Prime Ministers, much of his diary is sure to be taken up with lucrative speaking engagements, with audiences keen to hear the uncensored opinions of the man who led Britain out of Europe.

The British Prime Minister shocked the worldwide political-sphere today when he announced that he would be stepping aside months ahead of schedule.

“She wouldn’t describe herself as being terribly flamboyant”, said Key.

The mild-mannered Cameron then thanked reporters and turned to walk back to the prime minister’s residence, where his mic caught a DISCERNIBLE humming: “doo doooo, doo doo”.
