O’Reilly Confronts Trump for Touting ‘Operation Wetback’: ‘That Was Brutal’
To be politically correct, Trump did not refer to it by its name, but’s Trump’s version could be called “Operation Wetback 2.0” because, in his words, it would be done “humanely”.

At the recent GOP debate Trump fired back saying that it would be easy to do.
Trump has said that he will remove all undocumented immigrants from the country “so fast that your head will spin” – specifically, in under two years. The operation was named after a term for Mexicans who crossed the Rio Grande that is now viewed a racial slur. The candidate has argued that immigrants are drivers of crime, drug use and sexual assault in the USA (we can’t find much evidence to back these claims). The government said about 1 million people were deported at the time but since then historians have said it could’ve been less. They often lacked food and water and were in unfamiliar places. When questioned about China’s spying on USA citizens, stealing of intellectual property and general cyber aggression, Christie vowed to retaliate. During the fourth Republican debate this week, the bombastic billionaire praised a controversial border program from the 1950s that sent undocumented immigrants south across the border into remote areas where many died of sunstroke.
Not only will his immigration plan definitely work because a nice man did it once; it will also be “cheap”, although Trump did not explain how. There were over 11,000 formal complaints from legal documented bracero workers from 1954 through 1964.
Trump plans to deport 11.5 million.
“Do you remember when you said about the ‘anchor babies, ‘ that there’s nothing you could do about it. And I said, ‘Yes there is.’ And I was right about it”, Trump recalled. Rounded people up, put them on planes, trains and ships. There was nothing humane about the Eisenhower policy. It was a travesty – it was bad. So to say it was a success story is ridiculous.
Jared Taylor of the American Renaissance site told BuzzFeed News the policy was a “useful model”. O’Reilly said that maybe by 2050, the plan could begin.
Trump said that protesters have made unreasonable demands in the wake of the resignations. The people that like it more than anybody are the Hispanics that are here legally. “They never came back”. It’s not an adult argument. “It makes no sense”, said Kasich, governor of Ohio.
Trump remains undaunted. He knows the Republican base is with him.
Vargas added that while Trump is pandering to hard-liners in the Republican Party, most Americans do not agree with his plan.

Also on Friday, Christie speaking to Scott Brown on Fox News Radio, said Trump’s comments are not “the kind of things that should be coming out of the mouth of a candidate for the president of the United States”.
