Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf placed the police department under civilian control, and said anyone involved in the scandal would be held accountable “for their misdeeds”.

It’s also been alleged that she had sex with at least three Oakland police officers while she was underage as well as more officers from the Richmond Police Department and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department (however, those deputies have reportedly been cleared of wrongdoing).
“I have informed the Mayor and the City Administrator that I can not fulfill the functions of the Acting Chief of Police for the City of Oakland and I am stepping aside to take leave”, Figueroa said in a statement.
One officer is now on leave in that investigation, she said.
Mayor Schaaf says the move is legal and was used whe CHief Waned Tucker resigned in 2009. Newly implicated departments have said they are investigating the allegations. According to Buzzfeed News, five Oakland Police officers have been placed on administrative leave due to the sex scandal allegations.
The woman at the center of the sexual misconduct scandal said in a televised interview that she had slept with more than a dozen Oakland police officers.
Things have gotten so rotten in the Oakland police department that the exasperated city government has announced they are done appointing interim or acting police chiefs.
