Police Chief Sean Whent says footage from the officer’s body camera indicates no words were exchanged before the assault.

The fatal shooting is under investigation by Oakland police’s homicide and Internal Affairs units, and the Alameda County District Attorney’s office. Neighbors told ABC7 News it is possible the man may have been mentally disabled.
