Oakland Raiders Player Could Face Jail Time For Taunting Police Dog

Raiders linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong may be learning the hard way not to do such a pointless and obtuse thing, as he is reportedly under investigation for taunting a police dog in Pennsylvania (h/t Deadspin).

“The dog was going insane”, chief deputy Kevin Kraus told the BBC.

Here’s an interview with Deputy Maria Watts said K-9 Banditt, who was patrolling for explosives near Gate 5 at the Steelers-Raiders game with her friend and partner, Banditt.

The Oakland Raiders have had one of the best behaved team’s in the National Football League as far as their players breaking any laws of the land.

“Bandit was very agitated”, she told television channel WTAE Pittsburgh.

“I could see him jumping around, screaming, barking…Several other players that were with him, they also started to bark, clap, make agitation noises towards my dog. I imagine with his training and experience he would have gone to his target who was taunting him”. Even though he didn’t make contact with the animal, if convicted, Armstrong could face seven years in jail and a maximum fine of $15,000.

Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio has already said he doesn’t expect this to be “much of an issue”, implying that Armstrong won’t be charged. “I’m going to put it in the “silly” category”, Del Rio said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio (via FOXSports.com).

Kraus says surveillance video captured part of the encounter. We notified the District Attorney’s Office on Sunday.

He said the Sheriff’s Office will review evidence including camera footage, eyewitness accounts and a statement from Watts to determine probable cause, Penn Live reported.
