Obama Acknowledges Americans’ Fear Of Terrorism But Vows To Overcome Threat
U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey has previously asked for a “robust debate” on encryption of communications, saying that the technology could come in the way of his doing his job to keep people safe.

Obama reaffirmed the strategy announced last month to send Special Operations forces to Iraq and Syria, along with Secretary of State John Kerry’s attempt to rally allies to end the civil war in Syria, but stopped short of any significant military initiative. Even though the incident was a mass shooting resembling other recent massacres on American soil, the Middle Eastern backgrounds and apparent ISIS ties of the shooters have stoked rhetoric about immigration, refugees and “radical Islam” on the right.
“Moreover, the vast majority of terrorist victims around the world are Muslim”.
Barack Obama interrupted his weekend (and ours, too) to deliver a 13-minute address to the nation Sunday night on the subject of terrorism. And there have reportedly already been instances where American Muslims have been targeted due to their faith, which has left them feeling vulnerable and isolated.
US President Barack Obama’s call for American Muslims to help “root out” extremism in their communities has drawn criticism from Islamic centers and mosques. He discussed the importance of ensuring that those who are on no-fly lists have zero chance of being able to legally purchase firearms.
Obama says he knows some people reject all gun safety measures.
While these words certainly fit the bill for ISIS, they don’t go far enough for GOP candidates like Donald Trump, who Monday called by the government to ban Muslims from entering the country, or Sen. “This is a matter of national security”. “Muslim leaders here and around the globe have to continue working with us to decisively and unequivocally reject the hateful ideology that groups like ISIL and al Qaeda promote; to speak out against not just acts of violence, but also those interpretations of Islam that are incompatible with the values of religious tolerance, mutual respect, and human dignity”, Obama said. He says Americans can not give into fear. In a report on the topic, correspondent Jon Karl highlighted Obama lecturing Americans on intolerance: “The President also answered his critics who called for a war against radical Islam”. So this was an act of terrorism created to kill innocent people. The pipe bomb damaged the building, but no one inside or injured during the attack. But Obama says there’s no evidence the killers were directed by a terrorist organization overseas. In fact, they were virtually invisible to US intelligence.
The US president’s speech, in a rare Oval Office address, followed Wednesday’s shooting in San Bernardino, California, that killed 14 people and wounded 21.
The Mobile congressman said he would have liked to have seen Obama explain what the strategy is to combat ISIS on social media, which the extremist group uses to recruit followers.

No shift in policy The public is unlikely to respond favourably to an address that offered neither a shift in policy from Obama’s under-fire strategy to beat the jihadists nor any dramatic changes in the military campaign he is waging.
