Obama: Britain, EU will remain ‘indispensable partners’ despite Brexit
British prime minister David Cameron, who fiercely opposed leaving Europe, has pledged to resign following the decision. Japan’s Nikkei 225 average dropped almost 1,300 points, or 8 percent, Friday.

While the United Kingdom as a whole voted to leave the European Union, Scots overwhelmingly opted to remain, with Ms Sturgeon declaring the result meant there had been a “significant and material change in the circumstances in which Scotland voted against independence” in 2014. But what does that mean for other members?
France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said it would not be acceptable for Britain to play a “cat and mouse” game.
The current design of the union’s flag dates back to 1955, when it was first used by the Council of Europe, but it wasn’t adopted by the European Economic Community until 1985.
Seven major automakers-VW Group, Toyota, GM, Ford, Nissan, Honda, and BMW-have design, engineering, or manufacturing plants in the U.K. According to figures released by the U.K. automotive industry body, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, total production of British-made vehicles last year reached nearly 1.6 million units, a 10-year high and a 3.9 percent increase on 2014.
It went down to the wire before ending in a 52-48% win for Brexit in the early hours of this morning, prompting celebrations by Leave campaigners and their supporters for a move they said would make Britain stronger.
From Paris to Dublin to Berlin, heads of state scrambled to form a consensus on how to extricate Britain from the 28-nation bloc, as British Prime Minister David Cameron said he planned to step down in defeat.
Conservative Party leader Boris Johnson, a former London mayor who became the most recognizable face of the “leave” camp, is now widely tipped to seek the top job.
“Any delay would unnecessarily prolong uncertainty”. “It also underscores the need for us to pull together to solve our challenges as a country, not tear each other down”.
Meanwhile, Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon said her semi-autonomous administration would start immediate talks with the European Union to ensure Scotland could remain in the bloc despite the UK-wide vote to leave.
In a freakish back-pedal some Brexit supporters have now revealed they “regret” their decision because they were “fed lies” by the Leave campaign and didn’t think that their vote would make a difference.
“It’s ridiculous, the racists have won”, she said. “(We will) explore possible options to protect Scotland’s place in the European Union”, she said after meeting with her Cabinet in Edinburgh, adding that a new referendum on Scottish independence from the United Kingdom is “very much on the table”.
Many Labour lawmakers were strongly pro-Remain and accuse the socialist Mr Corbyn, a longtime critic of the European Union, of failing to rally Labour supporters behind staying in the bloc.
Speaking of his sadness at his decision to stand down, Mr Johnson described the Prime Minister as “one of the most extraordinary politicians of our age”.
However, remedial action has been triggered to counteract the immediate negative effects of the referendum result.
