Significant sticking points remain in the negotiations over a creation of an unlikely U.S.
During an address to reporters at the G-20 worldwide summit in China, President Obama stated that he’d like to prevent an “arms race” among countries that have various cyber weapons at their disposal.
Obama will become the first sitting USA president to travel to Laos later Monday, where he plans to push for closer economic ties with Laos and Southeast Asia, and raise human rights abuses in the one-party communist state. “It is indisputable that it would create a better deal for us than the status quo”, Obama said.
The Kremlin says the latest round of USA sanctions against Russian Federation runs counter to potential cooperation on “sensitive issues” that Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin discussed during their meeting in China this week.
“(The two presidents) discussed, above all, Syria and Ukraine.
“We are also discussing what can be done to focus on al Nusra and ISIL”, the official added, using an alternative acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria terror group.
Obama has expressed skepticism that Russian Federation would honor its agreement.
Obama and Putin also discussed the conflict in Ukraine, where Russian-backed separatists have been fighting the government, and the implementation of the agreement to stop the violence. Mr Obama met earlier with French president Francois Hollande and German chancellor Angela Merkel on the same issue.
The two leaders met on the sidelines of a G20 summit in China, where Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged the USA and Russian Federation to establish a no-fly zone over northern Syria and to push for a new ceasefire in the key city of Aleppo in the coming days.
“If an agreement can be reached, we want to do so urgently, because of the humanitarian situation”.

“In exchange, Russian Federation would prevail on its ally, the regime of Bashar al-Assad, to stop bombing moderate rebel groups and civilians”, David reported in July. World leaders are gathering in Hangzhou for the 11th G20 Leaders Summit from September 4 to 5. As the president was greeted by his Chinese hosts, Obama’s aides and journalists accompanying the president clashed with a Chinese official as they tried to watch the ceremony.
