Obama considers republican governor of Nevada Brian Sandoval for Supreme Court
Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), pressuring Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee to “put country before party” and give fair consideration to the nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia. The White House is considering the 52-year-old Sandoval, two people familiar with the process said Wednesday. Just a day earlier, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said his 54-member GOP caucus is united against taking any step in the Senate’s “advice and consent” process. Last year he signed a bill requiring the state to pay $5,100 a year to students who go to private schools or are educated at home.

CBS News reported that it is unclear how many people the president is considering for nomination to the Supreme Court.
Gov. Sandoval said over the weekend he was honored his name was mentioned, but had heard nothing to think the Democratic president is considering him. “I talked to his political guy today”.
The people asked not to be identified because the White House hasn’t publicly discussed its strategy for the court battle.
Murray’s attorney, Kenneth Montgomery, said he thinks the decision made by prosecutors illuminates what they were willing to do: investigate the case. The Times said the four liberal justices voted liberal 70 percent of the time and the four conservative justices voted conservative 60 percent of the time.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest declined during a briefing to confirm whether Sandoval was on Obama’s list of potential nominees. If Republicans hold their ground on refusing a vote, Obama will ostensibly keep pushing his nominee until his presidency ends in January 2017. Maybe President Obama is unaware that his possible Scalia replacement is also a not-so-stealthy Koch acolyte like Scalia.
Feingold’s campaign has criticized Johnson, accusing him of taking cues from McConnell and Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, who has urged Senate Republicans to “delay, delay, delay” the Supreme Court appointment.
“The question of “who decides” has been contemplated by many, including our friends on the other side of the aisle”.
“If he nominates a sitting judge, it won’t affect that judge that much in terms of what they do”, said M. Miller Baker, who worked on the Judiciary Committee’s legal staff during the Clarence Thomas and Ruth Bader Ginsburg confirmations. “President Obama’s successor will not be elected for nine more months”, she said.
Here’s a look at seven potential Obama nominees who could change the direction of the court for the next 30 years.
“I am going to present somebody who indisputably is qualified for the seat and any fair minded person, even somebody who disagreed with my politics would say would serve with honor and integrity on the court”, Obama said Wednesday.

While there has been some speculation that Republicans could consider a court pick in its lame-duck session after the election, McConnell’s statement on Tuesday was unequivocal, making clear the GOP position is that the next president should fill the vacancy.
