Those close to the proposal, however, warn “unforeseen circumstances could delay an announcement”.

“The President absolutely believes that the most impactful step we could take is if Congress takes common sense measures on this front”, said Principal Deputy White House Press Secretary Eric Schultz.
The president will ask Congress to shut down the terror detention center at Guantanamo, a facility Mr. Obama may close on his own if lawmakers balk at the White House plan.
United States President Barack Obama is expected to introduce stricter gun control regulations early next year in the wake of mass shootings across America in 2015.
Observers have speculated the actions would be handed down before Obama’s State of the Union address on January 12.
This is will not do away with the nonexistent “gun show loophole”, but it will further limit Americans’ freedom to sell guns to their neighbors or family members without a background check-which is ultimately what Democrats want to accomplish anyway.
“The president has made clear he’s not satisfied with where we are and expects that work to be completed soon”, he said.
A spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association said the group had no comment The group previously told CNN that Obama’s “gun control agenda was rejected by Congress. Now, he is doing what he always does when he doesn’t get his way, defying the will of the people and using executive action”.
Citing gun-industry insiders and other sources, the news outlet reported one proposal would classify more gun sellers as high-volume dealers.
However, Congress would still need to pass a law to make background checks apply to all sellers and vendors.
A Washington Times report on gun control issue said, “Twenty years after President Clinton tackled gun control by drastically reducing the number of licensed firearms dealers in the U.S., President Obama is preparing to tackle gun control by increasing the number of licensed gun dealers”.
If Obama acts alone to tighten the nation’s gun laws, it would set up a major confrontation with Republicans and gun rights groups during an election year.

In addition to limiting the background check loophole, Obama’s actions will likely include new funding for federal agencies that enforce existing gun laws.
