Obama Family Will Live In $5.2 Million DC Mansion After Presidency
By now you’ve probably heard that Barack and Michelle Obama plan to relocate from the White House to a home in the upper-upper scale Sheridan-Kalorama neighborhood in northwest Washington. The residence is reportedly owned by Joe Lockhart, Glover Park Group co-founder, and his wife, Giovanna Gray Lockhart, the Washington editor of Glamour.

The Obamas’ future Kalorama home sits on about a quarter-acre of land on a somewhat secluded block of one of DC’s toniest neighborhoods. The eight-bedroom, nine-and-a-half-bathroom mansion is just a 10 minute drive from Sidwell Friends School, Sasha Obama’s school. Real estate website Redfin estimates that it’s worth approximately $6.4 million.
Obama has said he and his family will remain in Washington home after he departs 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in January 2017, a change from most former presidents. Earlier this year, Lockhart moved to NY after taking on the position as executive vice president for communications for the NFL.
Mr Obama, who will be 55 when he leaves the Oval Office, will be the first sitting president since Woodrow Wilson in 1921 to defy the usual etiquette of leaving town following the inauguration of his successor.

His sister, Malia, is graduating from the school and will take off a gap year before attending Harvard.
