Of the candidates who are still considered in the top tier, former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Ohio governor John Kasich, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, and New Jersey governor Chris Christie have each found ways to prominently tout their Second Amendment bona fides. It showed that two-thirds of our crime guns come from states with weak gun laws. In the prime-time debate, Cruz bragged about leading the fight against legislation that would have required universal background checks on gun purchases. I have vetoed a reduction this clip size.

The spots don’t mention specific gun-control measures, but they do direct viewers to the Web site of Everytown for Gun Safety, the advocacy organization funded by Michael Bloomberg, which is working on a variety of reforms. They get-they steal them. That’s not true: Dozens of mass shooters bought their weapons at gun stores. That’s a lesson companies learned 16 years ago, when Smith & Wesson cut a deal with the Clinton administration to accept a series of gun controls, including development of smart gun technology. Rubio went further, suggesting that Americans should arm themselves against terrorists. “We’ve been frustrated by the fact that Congress has not done anything on this”. Terror attacks have rocked cities large and small, ranging from Paris to San Bernardino, California.
President Obama has recently been pushing for a policy change to toughen up gun laws in the US. I am convinced that this president, if he could get rid of the Second Amendment, he would. In 2008, the Supreme Court affirmed that it protects the right to own a handgun and to possess a rifle or shotgun without a trigger lock.

As the details of these proposals are released, my colleagues and I will work to ensure that mandates that strip Second Amendment rights away from law-abiding Americans are not implemented.
