Obama gains 34 senate votes on Iran nuclear deal
Booker said in a statement that the deal is flawed, but the alternative is worse. “Quite honestly, none of them should be re-elected”.

Israel contends the deal would keep Iran perilously close to developing nuclear weapons while enriching a government that has funded anti-U.S. and anti-Israel militants throughout the Middle East. Dean Heller joined fellow Nevada Republicans Joe Heck, Mark Amodei and Cresent Hardy in opposition to the Iran nuclear deal.
Mikulski said the agreement was the best way to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions so long as Israel’s interests were maintained.
There was no immediate response from Obama about the vote that sealed the deal, but Secretary of State John Kerry, during a speech in Philadelphia Wednesday, strongly supported the accord.
“While I choose to support the deal, I am not satisfied with it as a final measure and will support efforts to shore-up its weaker points”, Warner said in his statement.
Gaughan says the Iran nuclear deal isn’t about mending relationships between the USA and Iran but rather keeping an eye on the country and monitoring its activity. But “I believe they would support a snapback in sanctions if a violation was identified and verified”, she said.
Among voters who say the Iran deal requires approval from Congress, 67% want their representatives to vote against the deal, while 77% of those who don’t think congressional approval is necessary want their congressman to back the agreement.
But none of the skepticism translated into enough Democratic opposition to threaten the deal, partly resulting from the upside-down voting process involved.

There are now at least 36 Senate Democrats who are prepared to sustain the veto – that’s two more than the minimum number needed. Senator Mikulski’s pledge to back the president’s veto of an expected Republican-sponsored resolution that would kill the agreement means that whatever happens next, the landmark accord negotiated by the administration and its diplomatic partners over the last two years is virtually a done deal. House and Senate votes on the pact are planned for this month. With this, the White House secured 34 votes backing the proposal, which was the minimum requirement to ensure no further disapproval threats on the deal. Iran has always claimed that its nuclear research was exclusively for nuclear energy.
