Obama honors Warriors, jokes that his Bulls are still the best
President Barack Obama welcomed the reigning National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors to the White House on Thursday, joking with superstar Stephen Curry and his league-leading teammates.

“I can’t imagine how that feels”, the president added.
Curry’s trailblazing season continued at the Verizon Center on Wednesday as he sank 11 of 16 efforts from beyond the arc in the Warriors’ 134-121 triumph, stretching their winning streak to eight matches.
It was the latest success for the team, which has gone from strength to strength under coach Steve Kerr, earning the 2015 title and a visit to the White House.
“Let’s face it, the Warriors are in the middle of a very special two-year run”, Obama continued his praise for the team.
“Consider this”, Kerr said of the jersey, “a symbol of the offer that’s coming”.
There is no question, though, that somewhere not so deep inside his soul, the president would have preferred to be hosting his beloved Chicago Bulls, whose NBA-record 72 wins is within the Warriors’ sights. The Golden State Warriors star guard rocked by 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in support of the president’s Malaria Initiative a year ago, and the Barack Obama and Stephen with his father also played a round of golf along with the former Boston Celtics team captain Ray Allen.
While you can quibble with Washington’s decision to take him out longer than they should have in the second half when he got into some foul trouble, the bottom line is even with Wall’s performance last night the Warriors were just better.
“I don’t play anymore but I still know a little bit about basketball and this really is one of the best that we’ve ever seen”.
“The point is, this is a great basketball team, but it’s a great organization, it’s a great culture”, he explained. You can’t chase the record if the game doesn’t call for it. But as Coach Kerr pointed out, he wins either way.

Obama wasn’t able to keep to the theme of the Warriors the entire speech, making sure to fit in a comment about his hometown team. “Which, man, that doesn’t seem fair”, Obama said.
