Obama implores United States voters to elect former rival Clinton
Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., added that the first lady “bridges so many gaps in our country because she’s so fiercely authentic, and I think that is what we need in this campaign, that authentic ability to connect”.

Clinton, the first woman to be nominated by a major party for the nation’s highest office, will open with an apparent jab at her Republican rival, Donald Trump, saying that “powerful forces are threatening to pull us apart”.
Haussler said her group is excited to return to campus in the fall to build a coalition of students to campaign for Clinton in CT.
“We know without a doubt that the hand was on the scale”, she said.
Biden appeared to take zeal in attacking Trump, drawing the convention crowd to its feet and garnering loud applause for his punchiest lines. The details must come, but Clinton hit on the issues most concerning to Americans: better jobs, more opportunity, a focus on terrorism, along with a vow to make Wall Street and 1-percenters “pay their fair share”.
“As someone who was responsible for protecting our nation from cyberattacks, it’s inconceivable to me that any presidential candidate would be that irresponsible”, Panetta said. “But we are not afraid”. It will be followed by Hillary’s own acceptance speech on Thursday after introduction by her daughter Chelsea Clinton. He’s betting that if he scares enough people, he might score just enough votes to win this election.
Trump’s message was “that we no longer live in a world of trust, we live in a world we have to be afraid of. We, we will not ban a religion, we will work with all Americans and our allies to fight and defeat terrorism”.
Sanders declared his support for Clinton in an earlier speech at the convention.
Engineer Chris Scully, of Troy, New York, said he opposes Clinton because of her war record as USA secretary of state.
The four-day confab in Philadelphia – the City of Brotherly Love – has so far been somewhat less than fraternal, with disappointed Sanders supporters periodically disrupting the proceedings with boos. “Tonight, I have the pleasure of introducing the last great Democratic president”, she said, before talking about Kerry, who she predicted would be “the next great Democratic president”.
“What nearly always happens when the more centrist candidate gets the nomination, is that voters get the choice between two evils”, said David Meyer, professor of political science at UC Irvine. “I say this out of a firm concern, for the future of our children and my grandchildren, Donald Trump can not become our commander in chief”, Panetta said to a roar of cheers and “No More Wars” chants. “The polls I’ve seen suggest that the Sanders people are already coming around”.
The following day, Trump drew headlines when he said he hoped Russian hackers had personal emails deleted from Hillary Clinton’s private email server when she was secretary of state.
A parade of speakers at the Philadelphia convention vigorously tried to do just that on Clinton’s behalf.
“How she basically campaigns towards us, while she’s also campaign to the rest of the country, is an important element in a lot of people making up their mind, including me”, he said. Women lawmakers were prominently featured, along with young activists, immigrants, and mothers whose black children were victims of gun violence or killed during encounters with law enforcement. She talked about the rights of the LGBT community, and reminded the crowds of how Trump had slammed women, Mexicans, prisoners of war, and people with disabilities. “It’s easy to boo, but it is harder to look your kids in the face who would be living under a Donald Trump presidency”, he admonished them, describing Trump as the “worst candidate for president in the modern history of this country”. What are we offering?.
