Obama interrupting vacation to campaign for Clinton

Obama, who is on a two-week vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, an island off the coast of MA, took a short break from his relaxation time to raise money for Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee he hopes will succeed him when he leaves office in January.

After speaking, Obama apparently did not allow the reporters putting together the pool report to hear his answers to questions from the donors.

Monday’s event is hosted by Hank Goldberg, a real estate investor, and his wife Carol Brown Goldberg, a mixed-media artist.

Obama pointedly did not mention Donald Trump by name and said he’s exhausted of talking about the Republican candidate.

Obama was appearing a fundraiser for the Hillary Victory Fund, which was set up to raise money for the Democratic National Committee and state parties across the country.

Obama said Trump’s recent criticism of Muslim parents who lost their USA soldier son in Iraq and who publicly criticized Trump’s stance toward Muslims, plus the candidate’s lack of “basic knowledge” about critical issues in Europe, the Middle East and Asia “means that he’s woefully unprepared to do this job”.

The President warned his party, however, to maintain a sense of urgency until the Nov 8 election. He endorsed her right after the primaries and caucuses ended in June.

The fundraiser, held in the same forested town on Martha’s Vineyard where Obama and his family are renting a secluded compound, brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars for Clinton’s campaign.

Adding a touch of politics to his vacation, President Barack Obama on Monday urged Democrats to campaign aggressively for the next 80 days to elect presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, saying “if we do not do our jobs, then it’s still possible for her to lose”.

He’s expected to spend much of the fall stumping for Clinton. She’ll be making her first campaign appearance with Vice President Joe Biden in his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania. The president and his family are vacationing in the MA island of Martha’s Vineyard. So far, he has indulged in seven rounds of golf, five dinner outings, two afternoons at the beach and a couple of trail walks.

Before he departed for his two-week stay on Martha’s Vineyard, Obama declared Trump unfit for the presidency.
