In lieu of visiting himself, Obama tasked Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson with making the trip to Louisiana Thursday to survey the devastation.

Meanwhile, at approximately noon on Thursday in Martha’s Vineyard, Obama arrived at the private Farm Neck Golf Club for another day on the links.

Like his predecessors, Obama has no doubt discovered that crises keep their own calendar, even when commanders-in-chief are trying to take some time off the clock.

President Barack Obama has a message for Democratic voters: Don’t underestimate Donald Trump. “I’m here because we’ve got an election”. “She gave me a special dispensation for this evening because she understands, just as all of you understand, how important this is”.

Obama is slated to headline a Democratic Party fundraising reception Monday evening on Martha’s Vineyard, the island playground off the coast of MA where he’s in the midst of a two-week vacation with his wife, Michelle, and their daughters Malia and Sasha.

West’s was a particularly blunt assessment, but echoed a growing narrative pushed by mainstream media outlets that Bush’s response was out of touch, inept and most of all, he didn’t care about people on the ground. “But this is historic, it’s unprecedented, and we are seeing unprecedented flood levels as the waters move south”.

Previous presidents have bypassed Louisiana after natural disasters.
