Obama Meets With Families Of Orlando Shooting Victims
Brittany Woodrough came to honor her close friend, 19-year-old Jason Benjamin Josaphat.I just pray for his family and I cant believe this happened, she said. Obama has lamented the frequency with which he’s had to perform that duty, calling his inability to enact stricter gun laws the biggest frustration of his presidency.

President Barack Obama speaks at the Treasury Department in Washington, Tuesday, June 14, 2016, following a meeting with his National Security Council to get updates on the investigation into the attack in Orlando, Florida and review efforts to degrade and destroy ISIL.
But Republican Senator John McCain said the president was “directly responsible” because he had failed to tackle the Islamic State group.
The gunman has been identified by Omar Mateen, 29. But CIA Director John Brennan said Thursday the agency has found no connection between the gunman and any foreign terrorist organization.
“We can do something about the amount of damage that they do”, he said.
“We’re going to have to do more to prevent these kinds of events from occurring”, he said.
“But we can stop some tragedies”. We can’t wipe away hatred and evil from every heart in this world.
“Those who were killed and injured here were gunned down by a single killer with a powerful assault weapon”, Obama said. Mateen was armed with a Sig Sauer MCX assault rifle.
Obama adds that his visit Thursday to the grieving Florida city reminds everyone of “what is good”.
‘Through their pain and through their tears, they told us about the joy that their loved ones had brought to their lives’.
He said afterwards: “The vice president and I told them, on behalf of the American people, that our hearts are broken, too”.
Shortly before he was shot and killed by police, Mateen searched on social media for news of his murderous rampage, according to the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
Obama recognized local law enforcement, leaders, volunteers, the rescuers who rushed the survivors to the hospital in the harrowing moments after the shooting, the doctors and nurses who’ve kept them alive since.
The President said that since the last two terror attacks on USA soil were “homegrown” and committed by “deranged individuals”, it would take “more than just our military” to prevent further massacres.
“It’s our unity, the outpouring of love that so many across our country have shown to our fellow Americans who are LGBT; a display of solidarity that might have been unimaginable even a few years ago”, he said.
Hours before Obama’s plane touched down in Orlando, Democratic Sen. Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012.
Republicans agreed to schedule votes on Democrat-sponsored legislation that would ban gun sales to suspected terrorists and expand background checks for gun buyers.
We we can start by making every law-abiding citizen equal at least to every bad guy out there, by allowing him to defend himself with the same weaponry the criminal has at his disposal.

Both bills were expected to fail. “And then I hope the House does the right thing and helps to end the plague of violence that these weapons inflict on so many lives”.
