Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who has said that Americans should hold gun manufacturers responsible for shooting deaths “not anymore than you would hold a hammer company responsible if somebody beat somebody over the head with a hammer”, Politico reports.

US President Barack Obama defended his executive orders aimed at curbing gun violence in the country.
The measures would tighten rules on who must register as a gun dealer, narrow a “gun show” loophole that allows buyers to dodge background checks, and crack down on “straw purchases” of weapons through intermediaries. The NRA declined to participate in CNN’s town hall on guns.
Obama Thursday admitted he had surprised himself by shedding tears.
Taya Kyle, widow of US Navy SEAL Chris Kyle who was killed at a gun range and portrayed in the film “American Sniper”, said laws would not stop people with criminal intent. In the 18-34 demo, CNN had 277,000 viewers, while Fox News trailed with 73,000 and MSNBC had 40,000.
The setup, on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, gave Obama an opportunity to sell his executive actions on gun control, but also face tough questions from opponents who asked him directly how he is working to make Americans safer.
For men with criminal records in MA who want to acquire illegal guns, “Plan A is to go up to New Hampshire and Vermont and ME and get the guns themselves”, Robinson said. Former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords, who was injured in an assassination attempt in 2011, and her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, who is now a gun control advocate, will attend.
Obama said he’s always been willing to meet with the NRA to discuss gun policies – if they’re willing to address the facts truthfully.
The town hall featured several well-known figures in the gun debate.
As he did in his speech Tuesday, Obama compares gun control to civil rights achievements, such as ending slavery, in the op-ed. Thanks to the gun lobby’s decades of efforts, Congress has blocked our consumer products safety experts from being able to require that firearms have even the most basic safety measures.
“Yes, that is a conspiracy”, Obama said.
“Well, I actually think he was honest”, GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said on Wednesday, according to Politico.
I am not a gun owner, and I do not profess to be an expert on the subject of firearms. Not only has Congress not approved the creation of this crime, Napolitano, who is a member of the Ron Paul Institute Advisory Board, advises that Congress has rejected creating the crime three times.
Obama renewed his push for gun regulations following a spree of mass shootings past year, including a one orchestrated by a radicalized Muslim couple in San Bernardino, California, in December in which 14 people died.

Obama, who will devote time this year to campaigning for Democrats running for November elections, vowed he would not campaign for any candidate who did not back gun reforms.
