“We can not succumb to fear”, Obama said, after he discussed with Hollande counter-IS efforts.

Hollande’s visit was tucked into a tour of meetings with leaders from Britain, Germany, Italy and elsewhere created to push the world’s leaders to step up their campaigns against ISIS, which claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks in Paris that killed 130 and injured hundreds more less than two weeks ago.

Publicly, though, Obama outlined no concrete new actions that the United States would take, and he suggested that the attacks might finally prompt Europe to approach the threat more seriously.

“The strikes against Daesh (IS) will be intensified and be the object of coordination”, Mr Hollande said at a press conference with Mr Putin. adding that the strikes would focus on the transportation of oil.

“We stand in solidarity with Turkey and support the territorial integrity of our North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally”, Stoltenberg said.

Putin also said Russian Federation would keep cooperating with the United States and its partners to fight Islamic State in Syria, but that cooperation will be in jeopardy if there are any repeats of the shooting down of the jet.

“We want to gather all countries”, Hollande said.

The French President met with British Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday, who has pledged to press the British Parliament to approve military action in Syria and on Thursday, continues his efforts to rally support in Moscow.

Russian Federation is supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad in the country’s years-long civil war, and Moscow doesn’t distinguish groups like ISIS from anti-Assad rebels that have received support from the US and Gulf regional allies.

After a meeting with French President Francois Hollande at the White House, US President Barack Obama said he could work with Russian Federation in Syria to combat the militant Islamic State (IS) group.

On Turkey’s downing of a Russian jet along the Syrian-Turkish border earlier that day, both leaders urged Russia and Turkey to avoid escalation.

However, Hollande said he and Obama made an agreement to “scale up our strikes both in Syria and in Iraq to broaden our scope to strengthen our intelligence sharing regarding the targets”. ISIL, ISIS and IS all are references to the Islamic State. “The refugee crisis and terrorism are all drivers for more populism and such trends can not be a positive thing for the United States in terms of strengthening the transatlantic relationship”. Last week, Hollande called for the US and Russian Federation to set aside their policy divisions over Syria and “fight this terrorist army in a broad, single coalition”.
