Obama prepares to hand off legacy to Clinton
Kaine made a case that Americans should trust Clinton.

For Clinton, the stakes are enormous.
Kaine said his son would “protect and defend the very North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies that Donald Trump now says he wants to abandon”. Even as Clinton and her validators argue Trump is unqualified for the Oval Office, they recognize the businessman has a visceral connection with some voters in a way the Democratic nominee does not.
He also made an appeal to Bernie Sanders supporters who are still cool on Clinton. A pre-convention controversy over hacked Democratic Party emails showing favoritism for Clinton in the primary threatens to deepen the perception that Clinton prefers to play by her own rules.
Two nights after his wife, Michelle, offered a forceful argument for Clinton, burying any remaining notes of discord that may have remained following the tense 2008 campaign, Barack Obama did the same for the woman who was once his secretary of state.
Democrats want to hear how she will continue to push forward on the progressive agenda of U.S. President Barack Obama and how she can continue to build on his legacy in a wide range of areas. This will mark a change of focus from Tuesday’s proceedings which largely highlighted Clinton’s personal warmth and the historic nature of her nomination.
While both Clinton and Trump have similar unfavorable ratings, this is an opportunity for Clinton to build on that contrast between her vision and Trump’s, he said.
Obama was in Philadelphia at the Democratic National Convention 12 years to the day after he shook politics with a convention speech in Boston that encouraged Americans to look at the common threads that unite them. We’re going to unleash the creative spirit and energy of all Americans. She pointed at the man who denied her the White House eight years ago, smiled wide and gave him a hug. Not known for soaring addresses, can she meet the moment?
“Everybody knows she is smart”, Biden said.
For Democrats, the night was steeped in symbolism, the passing of the baton from a barrier-breaking president to a candidate trying to make history herself. It climaxed a parade of speeches over the past 72 hours – from men and women, gay and straight, white, black and Hispanic, young and old – hoping to cast the Republicans as out-of-touch social conservatives led by an unhinged and unscrupulous tycoon. “She’s the only thing left between us and Trump”.
That effort was hammered home Wednesday by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a Republican-turned-independent, who implored Americans to “elect a sane, competent person with sane, worldwide experience”. He’s one of several military leaders and service members who have taken the stage to vouch for Clinton’s national security experience.
Speculation abounds that Trump’s reluctance is motivated by the fact that releasing his returns would reveal his ties to countries like Russian Federation. Mana said he is not optimistic that Trump will take him up on the offer.
“If your’re concerned about paying your bulls”, Obama said, “then the choice isn’t even close”.
“Tonight was a sad night for the Democratic Party”.
