Obama says he’ll meet with attorney general on gun options

Obama has often spoken out about gun violence, particularly after such mass killings at the Sandy Hook school shootings in Newtown, Conn., in 2012 that left 26 people dead, and the fatal shooting of nine people at a black church in Charleston last summer.

The shooting comes amid more than three months of stabbing, shooting and vehicle attacks by Palestinians against Israelis. A shooter has opened fire in downtown Tel Aviv , killing two Israelis and wounding others, hospital officials said .

Except George Lucas: Everyone liked the new ‘Star Wars’ movie
In a statement to Variety , Lucas said he’s “thrilled” to see Disney take Star Wars in “exciting directions” across categories. He said “The Force Awakens” is more of a retro movie and accused it of not having any new ideas, which isn’t entirely unfair.

President Obama says one of his New Year’s resolutions is doing more about the epidemic of gun violence.

He said he was using his executive powers as president because the US Congress has failed to address the problem.

“But the gun lobby mobilized against it. And the Senate blocked it”, Obama said.

“The rest of us are going to have to be just as passionate and well-organized in our defense of our kids”, the president said.

The group said at the time that Obama had his “wish list of gun control”, in California but “it didn’t prevent the San Bernardino attack”.

Aides said they believe that he is intent on acting. The change is aimed at informal dealers such as those who are selling online frequently or renting tables at gun shows but do not have a storefront.

It did allow individuals to sell guns from their own “personal collections” (without a background check) if they weren’t otherwise in the gun trade, but over time the interpretation of what was considered a “personal collection” became very broad.

He has repeatedly urged Congress to tighten gun laws.

“Obama’s executive orders on gun control… are also unconstitutional and completely insane”, he writes in a Facebook post. The unemployment rate, Obama says, dropped from 10 percent to five, more than 17 million Americans now have health insurance who did not before, oil imports are down and clean energy is booming and all 50 states have marriage quality.

White House spokesman Eric Schultz said Mr. Obama asked his team to “scrub existing legal authorities” and assess actions that could be taken administratively.

Even after the rash of mass shooting we have seen, Congress has proven incapable of adapting reasonably to the current climate of gun violence.
