Obama says no specific, credible terror threat over holidays

“We do not have any specific and credible information about an attack on the homeland”, Obama said today at the National Counterterrorism Center.

One of President Obama’s top military intelligence advisers blasted the president Thursday, saying, “I think it’s about time the coach figured out he has a national security team”. His statement is expected to begin shortly. He will stop in San Bernardino to meet with the families of the victims in the mass shooting.

Continuing a week-long push to underscore his command of national security dangers, Obama said he understood why unease has spread after attacks in France and California.

Obama, however, urged a jittery public to remain “vigilant” about the possibility of lone-wolf attacks like the one that was carried out earlier this month in San Bernardino, Calif., an event he said marked a “new phase” in the nature of threats against the nation.

“We can not give in to fear or change how we live our lives”, Obama said in brief remarks to employees at the National Counterterrorism Center. We have the very best intelligence, counterterrorism, homeland security and law enforcement professionals in the world.

Tashfeen Malik passed background checks and in-person interviews. Secretary of State John Kerry provided an update on security at USA embassies and consulates overseas. But FBI chief James Comey said Wednesday they “found no evidence of posting on social media by either of them”.

Since the 9/11 attacks, the feds have turned down on over 122,000 visas – including 9,500 for potential ties to terrorist activities, the official said. “Because they are smaller, often self-initiating, self-motivation, they’re harder to detect, and that makes it harder to prevent”, said Obama.
