Obama says Trump has no ‘plans or policies’

She will be introduced by daughter Chelsea. Eight years ago, his late son Beau put his name in nomination as Barack Obama’s vice president.

Biden was uniquely situated to make this case.

“I look at someone who is a statesman”.

“You’re talking about a guy who’s connecting with those workers in Scranton, Pa., who’s connecting with those people in Youngstown, Ohio, who’s connecting with those white, working-class voters in a way that you have your entire career – and a way that Hillary Clinton is not”, said Scarborough, a former Republican congressman who represented Florida. But that doesn’t mean he’ll be sitting out the 2016 campaign.

“And we holler at each other”, said Biden.

“She knows their dream is quintessentially American, and the American Dream is something no wall will ever contain”.

“The truth is, Donald Trump knows nothing about foreign policy”, said the man who will speak to the Democratic National Convention crowd tonight in Philadelphia. That’s the Hillary I’ve come to admire.

He never got there, at least not in time. His speech was preceded by an introduction video that went over all his greatest hits as a senator and VP, with clips of Biden speaking out against apartheid, urging an end to ethnic cleansing in Bosnia, advocating for cancer research, and speaking about the loss of loved ones.

Obama also shared a pointed message for the Clinton campaign. You know, I’ve known Hillary for well over 30 years. “This is a man of character”, he said.

“I do not think there is any fracture in the party. They’re the opposition, not our enemies”.

In the months since, the mood of the country has been anything but that hopeful plea, with Trump rising in large part due to fear and unrest.

The claim comes after Melania Trump was criticized for taking a significant portion of her address during the Republican National Convention from First Lady Michelle Obama’s convention speech in 2008.

In a move aimed at broadening Clinton’s appeal, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg – an independent who considered launching a third party bid for president – endorsed the Democratic nominee.

Could Biden have fully bridged that gap if he were the Democratic nominee? “But I don’t have many regrets and that’s not one of them”. Early polls showed he was more competitive against leading Republicans than Clinton.

Biden described her as “always there” for those in need, with an understanding of how to improve health care and lower college costs. “I could see where a lot of our adversaries would think it’s better to have someone who doesn’t have any idea what they’re doing than have somebody as tough as Hillary”.

Biden decided against a run for president, saying the timing was not right as his family coped with their loss.

The vice president worked to ease years of friction with Clinton, including intense speculation last year over whether he would jump into the presidential race. But this is a little different because we are here for the convention, and it’s exciting. “The Sanders delegates worked their tail off and they’re here in large numbers”.
