Obama seeks to convince Asian partners that Washington will approve TPP
“China provides a rolling staircase for every arriving state leader, but the USA delegation complained that the driver couldn’t speak English and couldn’t understand security instructions from the United States; so China proposed that we could assign a translator to sit beside the driver, but the USA side turned down the proposal and insisted that they didn’t need the staircase provided by the airport”, the official told SCMP.

The deal depends on the two sides agreeing to closer militarily coordination against extremist groups operating in Syria, something the Russians have long sought and the USA resisted.
Kerry, with approval from Obama, traveled to Moscow in mid-July to propose an agreement under which the United States would share intelligence and coordinate its bombing of terrorist targets with Russian Federation if Moscow would agree to ground the Syrian air force and stop its own bombing of US -backed opposition forces.
“But given the gap of trust that exists, that is a tough negotiation and we have not closed the gap yet”.
In a news conference at the end of the Group of Twenty leaders summit, Obama said a “dangerous dynamic” had taken hold in which the Russians sought to delegitimize any group that is fighting their ally, Syrian President Bashar Assad.
The balance sheet from the latest G20 meeting, President Barack Obama’s last, appears to be a thin one.
Heading into the meeting, diplomats were hopeful that the USA and Russia would reach a deal to ease fighting in Syria, but talks failed Monday despite the efforts of Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Russian Federation has shown support for the Syrian government, while the USA has bolstered pro-democracy and Kurdish groups on the ground in its campaign against the Islamic State (IS) group.
Earlier Monday, a senior Obama administration official was quoted as saying that the two presidents failed to force a breakthrough in negotiations over a cease-fire in Syria, but have agreed to keep up negotiations. Chinese officials unexpectedly limited reporters’ access to the President. Rather than wield power, the president is looking to other world leaders to join the United States in “instituting some norms” so that everyone acts responsibly.
The Republican presidential nominee highlighted the issue as he met with labor leaders Monday in suburban Cleveland. “And we’ve indicated to them that there will be consequences”.
The Turkish leader also commented on the escalated fighting in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, saying efforts were underway to establish a ceasefire in the area before Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) which is expected to start on September 11. The Kurds are the most effective US-backed anti-Daesh force, but the Turks consider them to be terrorists.
