Obama sets ambitious goal to cut pollution
“I agree with the president that we’re the first generation to feel its effects and we’re the last generation that can do anything about it”.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (8/5/15) ― U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, Chairman of the House Energy and Power Subcommittee, issued the following statement today in response to President Obama’s plan to regulate carbon dioxide from existing power plants, also known as the “Clean Power Plan”, which was released on Monday afternoon.
As a state with a rich history in coal production – the type of energy the plan aims to stamp out – Captio said the plan will cause devastating setbacks to West Virginia’s economy. The state and Georgia Power have already closed older coal-fired power plants and updated pollution controls on other plants.
In the meantime, here’s what the future of carbon emissions could look like in Kentucky, if you’re only taking coal-fired power plants into account. “We’ve passed a number of pieces of legislation that make it much easier for Maryland to conform to the federal plan”.
A carbon tax could match or even exceed the EPA’s emission reduction targets as supported by data from the Energy Information Agency (pp. ES-5, MT-34). Speaking to reporters after a campaign event in Manchester, New Hampshire, he said, “I don’t think it’s a climate change plan”. Most likely, they lose.
While North Carolina has taken a hard line in some cases about environmental regulation, Lansdell said, tougher rules haven’t seemed to hold the state back in terms of economic development. We saw commitments from India when it comes to the deployment of renewable energy technology.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, said she would defend the plan while Jeb Bush, one of a slew of Republicans running for their party’s nomination, said it would cost people jobs.
After Administrator Gina McCarthy (left) briefed reporters on EPA’s new greenhouse gas regulations, NRECA CEO Jo Ann Emerson said the rules go too far.
Wolf says the federal plan sets ambitious but achievable goals for cutting carbon emissions statewide. The plan specifies that energy efficiency is a key compliance mechanism that provides states with flexibility to design carbon reduction plans.

Obama said: “We can choose to believe that Superstorm Sandy, and the most severe drought in decades, and the worst wildfires some states have ever seen were all just a freak coincidence”.
