Obama to act next week on gun background checks
Obama will be the first sitting president to participate in the proceedings.

“He will host leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations next year”. Obama’s executive action won’t change either reality in the slightest.
Plans for the action are not yet complete, and those familiar with the process warn that unforeseen circumstances could delay an announcement.
The White House has refused to comment specifically on the scope of the actions or when they will be issued. A deal would end more than five decades of internal violence.
The changes, which could come as soon as next week, would include requiring more small-scale gun sellers to be licensed and to conduct a background check whenever selling a weapon, Politico reported.
The Obama administration’s “imminent” announcement comes ahead of the January 12th State of the Union address. But with Congress unlikely to approve any new gun curbs before the 2016 election, the measures are in line with what gun-control advocates were hoping would be adopted before Obama leaves office. “That’s why it’s taken some time for our policy folks, our lawyers, and our expects to work through this and see what’s possible”.
Arguing that the current gun laws in California are Obama’s “wish list of gun control” the laws did not “prevent the San Bernardino attack”.

The White House has spent the last few weeks finalizing several new measures in response to a string of mass shootings that have cast a cloud over Obama’s presidency.
