Obama to attend two San Francisco fundraisers Friday

President Barack Obama arrived in the Bay Area today for two Democratic fundraisers, including an evening affair at the San Francisco home of Ann and Gordon Getty.

The fundraising circuit has also given the president a chance to take shots at GOP presidential candidates Donald Trump and Sen. Each event costs more than $33,000 to attend.

Rashad, though excited to meet Obama, was also impressed by the level of preparation that went into a seemingly simple event – officials moving on and off the airfield to ensure the ideal setup for the president’s arrival.

Following that event, the president and Malia will fly from Los Angeles to San Francisco for two more fundraisers.

His pleas to Americans not to embrace the NY real estate mogul who’s called for an indefinite ban on Muslims has not succeeded, however, and Trump has won contest after contest, as has Cruz, another Republican candidate the president derides.

Speaking at the Horns’ Thursday night – with Hollywood celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia-Louis Dreyfus and Julia Roberts seated a few feet away – Obama said they needed to shift their focus to a new mission.

He also said that the rhetoric from Trump and his sole viable rival for the Republican nomination, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, has illustrated “some of the nonsense that we’ve been dealing with in Congress on a daily basis”.

The White House said Obama will attend Democratic National Committee and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee events at the San Francisco home Susan Sandler and Steve Philips. The $33,400 per couple gala is House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s signature fundraiser, held annually at the Getty home.

“People act as if these folks are outliers but they are not!” Afterward, he was rejoining former speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi there in her congressional district for her annual gala for House Democrats.

He accused Trump of taking his ideas from House conservatives-specifically, the Freedom Caucus-and then deciding, “You know what? I can deliver this message with more flair, with more panache, ‘” Obama said.

“Even if I am not president, and contrary to the assertions of some, I will continue to be a citizen, and I care deeply about what happens next so let’s get going”.

“I recognize that there is a deep obsession right now about Mr. Trump”.
