President Obama will meet with Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch on Monday to discuss what he can do to curb gun violence, sidestepping an entrenched Congress.
Obama lately directed employees at the White Home to look in to potential executive actions, resembling expanding background checks.

“The rest of us are going to have to be just as passionate and well organised in our defense of our kids”.
Obama’s address came as a Texas law allowing licensed firearms owners to carry handguns openly in public places took effect.

The White House has been hinting for much of the past month that the president was considering executive action on gun control, in the wake of a long line of mass shootings nationwide this year and a terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California.

“This Friday, I’ll be thinking about my friend Gabby Giffords, five years into her recovery from the shooting in Tucson”, he said, speaking of a former USA congresswoman and victim of another of the nation’s spasms of gun violence. He said it was also supported by a majority of the National Rifle Association members, but “the gun lobby mobilized against it and the Senate blocked it”. “But what if we tried to stop even one?”
