Obama to Meet Former State Secretaries to Set Rules for TPP Deal
Obama and Erdoğan will have a bilateral meeting on November 15 that will address, in part, the countries’ actions against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militant group and the situation in war-torn Syria, Ben Rhodes, USA deputy national security adviser, said at a White House briefing on Thursday.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to hold meetings with U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin separately on the sidelines of an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit meeting to be held on November 18 and 19 in Manila, according to government sources.
Obama is heading overseas Saturday for a trip focused on diplomacy in Turkey, the Philippines and Malaysia. But Obama’s national security adviser, Susan Rice, said Obama and Putin would have “ample opportunity for discussion” during informal run-ins at the summit.
The pair will meet during the APEC Summit in Manila, the Philippines, next Tuesday, the White House confirmed.
Aside from attending a trio of economic summits, Obama’s key goal for the trip is to promote the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal the USA recently struck with nations in the Asia-Pacific and in North America. He also hopes to rally support for a global climate deal that world leaders hope to finalize in Paris within weeks. He’ll also hold separate meetings with the leaders of Canada, Malaysia, Japan, Laos and the Philippines. “As soon as the 90-day review period is completed and the new session of Congress begins after the Christmas break, I am hoping that leaders in both parties and both chambers move promptly to get it done”, Obama said.
