Obama to tell Democrats that Clinton ‘keeps her cool,’ never quits

“If she wins, she is coming back for you to take you along on the ride to America’s future”, Clinton recalled telling voters.

Mr Obama robustly vouched for Mrs Clinton’s readiness to be commander in chief, saying “no matter how daunting the odds, no matter how much people try to knock her down, she never, ever quits”.

Clinton’s close confidant and current Virginia Governor, Terry McAuliffe, said Tuesday that Clinton will support the TPP if elected president.

But Clinton went for the safe option when she opted for Tim Kaine.

With folksy charm, he ridiculed Mr Trump’s list of promises and imitated one of the Republican candidate’s favourite phrases. “And that is not the America I know”, Obama said.

“The roar is deafening. a passionate endorsement of Hillary Rodham Clinton and at times an artful takedown of Donald Trump”, Holt said after the president’s speech.

He warned that the billionaire businessman is unprepared for the challenges that would await him in the Oval Office.

Few things proved more controversial during this Democratic primary than superdelegates – the elite class of Democratic presidential delegates who are not bound to vote the way their states voted in primaries and caucuses, and may vote however they choose.

Sanders, who on Tuesday launched the first of three planned post-campaign organizations and closed the roll call of states’ votes by supporting Clinton, had temporarily stepped out of the debate.

Wednesday night’s Democratic lineup was aimed at emphasizing Clinton’s own national security credentials. On Tuesday night, the Bernie or Bust brigades watched in dismay as Clinton became the first woman nominated for president by a major USA political party.

The US president endorsed Clinton with a rousing speech at the Democratic Convention.

Obama opened his speech by noting it had been 12 years since he gave the electrifying address at the 2004 convention that catapulted him to national prominence and kick-started his path to the White House, and then ran through a litany of accomplishments over his two terms as president: Killing Osama bin Laden; legalization of gay marriage, an improved economy and diplomatic deals with Iran and Cuba.

The all-too charismatic and erratic Republican contender also went for a safe option for his vice presidential pick. He tore into Trump, mocking his pledges to build a wall along the Mexican border, asking why he has not released his tax returns and slamming his business record, including the now-defunct Trump University.

For Sanders supporters, superdelegates became a flashpoint over the course of the primary.

For another, the delegates and alternates here in Philadelphia are younger and more diverse than the Republicans who gathered in Cleveland. “That is another bet that Donald Trump will lose”. Trump’s rhetoric may sound tempting in the face of political gridlock, but Obama warned that impatience should lead voters to fear their leaders have sold out-a subtle rebuke to his party’s left.

Sens. Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar, Clinton supporters, welcomed the commission and its work.

Earlier in the day, half a dozen Sanders delegates spoke to about 300 demonstrators gathered at a plaza near City Hall, about 4 miles from the convention site, for rallies and speeches.

POLICE: It was an emotionally charged moment when mothers of black Americans killed in police-involved shootings took the stage to address the convention Monday night. Trump could also drive up his support among white men only to see Clinton buoyed with better support than Obama had from white Republican women who dislike Trump. He was emotional as he thanked Americans for sustaining him through hard stretches.

Making a transition into the America he believes in, Obama began to discuss Hillary Clinton as, “a leader with real plans to break down barriers, blast through glass ceilings, and widen the circle of opportunity to every single American”. “I think that I’ve got a pretty clear-eyed sense of both her strengths and her weaknesses”.
