Obama: Trump, Cruz proposals harm US foreign policy
Trump’s memo said the threat would be withdrawn if Mexico made “a one-time payment of US$5-10 billion” to pay for the wall, the newspaper said.

“The wall is a good idea”. Considering the vast sums of money involved in US-Mexico cross-border trade this event can be one of the biggest drivers for new forms of remittances services of all times.
Obama said Tuesday that foreign leaders were expressing concern about “some of the wackier suggestions” being made both by Trump and his closest Republican rival, evangelical conservative Ted Cruz.
Obama warned of the ramifications such a plan would have on the Mexican economy which, in turn, would drive more immigrants to flee to the U.S.in search of jobs.
“[Mexico] has taken advantage of us”, Trump harshly criticized, as “gangs, drug traffickers and cartels have freely exploited our open borders and committed vast numbers of crimes” in the U.S., Americans have “borne the extraordinary daily cost” of these activities. Trump has also gone further than any of his competitors by advocating for the mass deportation of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants now in the United States.
Now a new memo from the Trump team to the Washington Post explains how funding for the 1,000-mile border wall will work. “Mexico is not going to be playing with us with war”.
Remittances are money sent home by immigrants in other countries.
The notion of blocking all wire transfers of money from Mexican nationals here to their relatives in Mexico is a non-starter. In addition to that, there would be the cancellation of visas for Mexican citizens coming into the US, including business and tourist visas. The memo, dated March 31, said that to prevent the money transfers, which are an important part of the Mexican economy, he would use the Patriot Act anti-terrorism law. When Trump first announced his presidential campaign last summer, his anti-illegal immigration stance and wall proposal were the centerpiece of his campaign.
One of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s main (if not only) defined policy goals is to erect an enormous, very tall, very expensive wall on the border between The United States and Mexico.
According to the Post, there are questions about the legal and political feasibility of the plan and the man Trump wants to replace in the White House, President Obama, has raised questions about the practicalities.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request to comment. It is also unclear whether Trump would seek any input from Congress. He and other Republicans have long criticized Obama for relying too heavily on executive orders to ram through his agenda.
