Obama ‘Unlikely’ to Order Release of Trump’s Tax Returns, White House Says
In reality, the IRS commissioner himself has said that an audit wouldn’t prevent anyone from releasing his or her taxes, while President Richard Nixon once released his tax returns while under audit proving that it’s possible to do so for even the top politicians in the country. His primary excuse has been that his lawyers have advised him against releasing his returns while he is now being audited by the Internal Revenue Service.

“[It] would create. financial auditors out of every person in the country asking questions that would detract from [his] main message”, Trump Jr. told the Tribune-Review.
For months, the official talking point of the Trump campaign has been that Donald Trump would be happy to release his tax returns but can not because they are under audit. This came a month after Trump said his team was “working on” releasing the returns. “I’m actually the biggest proponent of not doing it”. Those businesses aren’t taxed on their earnings; instead, they pass the profit through to their owners, who pay at their individual income-tax rates.
However, according to the White House, Obama is “unlikely” to take advantage of a widely overlooked rule in the Internal Revenue Code that would allow him to see and release Trump’s returns for him.
Consider what Trump Jr.is arguing here: the campaign could share relevant information, but then people might ask inconvenient questions, so Team Trump prefers secrecy to disclosure.
Donald Trump, nipping at Hillary Clinton’s heels in an increasingly close presidential race, plans on Thursday to tell the New York Economic Club his plan would create 25 million jobs in a decade and grow the economy by 3.5 percent per year.
“I think there are a couple of principles here”. (From a legal perspective, it makes it less risky.) Second, most of Trump’s tax returns are not under audit.
On Wednesday, Vice News announced it was suing the IRS for audits of Trump’s tax returns.
“Trump has said repeatedly that he would love to turn over his taxes, but can’t because they are under audit”, Vice says in the lawsuit.
