“I didn’t hear this candidate say that”, Obama said.

The new website has a section called “check out theses colleges”.
Students also can access a new measure of cumulative student debt for borrowers who complete their degree at each institution and an improved measure of students’ success in repaying their loans.
The release of the scorecard follows a series of recent national rankings that use varying methodologies to underline UC’s standing as one of the world’s preeminent research universities.
Housed at collegescorecard.ed.gov, the updated tool allows students to search for the higher education institution that serves them best, Obama said.
The bold plan Obama originally sought was scaled back this summer. American Council on Education President Molly Corbett Broad acknowledged the interest in having accurate data about earnings for college graduates, but she said the revised scorecard still needs work.
The impetus for the scorecard is the affordability crisis and the fact that so many students emerge from college these days with punishing levels of debt.
Higher education researchers and consumer advocates have had a generally favorable reaction to the College Scorecard, calling it a step toward more transparency.
The scorecard still faced some criticism.
GoLocal took a look at the return on investment at each university or college located in Rhode Island. Enter the school information – such as programs and degrees offered, location, size of the student body. And I’ve got to tell you, I don’t agree with that either.
Some students’ earnings aren’t represented.
President Obama recently unveiled College Scorecard, a website that uses open data to assist anyone, specifically, students, researchers, schools, and policymakers, to evaluate various factors. Nor are the earnings of low-income students who didn’t apply for aid. No other college or university on the list even comes close.
There’s no differentiation between a teacher’s and an engineer’s earning power. Colleges that graduate a lot of teachers, for example, are likely to report lower salaries that those that produce a disproportionate number of engineers.
Among the Kalamazoo institutions, 63 percent of WMU students, 61 percent who attended Kalamazoo College and 48 percent of KVCC students hit the $25,000 benchmark.
Obama and the White House stressed affordability.
The idea of the federal government issuing college ratings immediately generated backlash from colleges and universities that claimed that ratings would be unfair. A quarter were earning less than $10,600 per year.

Before answering the question, the president said: “When I went to college, suddenly there were some folks who didn’t think at all like me”.
