Obama Urges Americans to Get Behind Clinton, Slams Trump
The Democratic convention has been marked by a star-studded week of powerful speeches from President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders as well as former president Bill Clinton.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton takes the stage during the final day of the Democratic National Convention, Thursday, July 28, 2016, in Philadelphia.
With the conventions behind us, this country has just over 100 days before we cast our votes.
“So my friends, it is with humility, determination and boundless confidence in America’s promise that I accept your nomination for president of the United States”, Clinton said. One of her speech themes, aides said, would be the lessons from her book “It Takes a Village”, where she wrote about the impact a community can have on children.
They made the case with voices that spanned the spectrum from elected officials, Americans with disabilities who Trump mocked earlier this year, families of fallen soldiers and even Republicans who said Trump is an unacceptable nominee. And then you had that visual of Hillary Clinton walking on stage and she hugged Obama and they embraced and you saw what they were trying to do.
Mr Obama said: “It is the nature of democracy that until the votes are cast, and the American people have their say, we don’t know [who will win]”. “Last week, Trump spoke for 70-odd minutes…and I mean odd”, Hillary said, as the convention burst into laughter – and that counts doubly for Bill Clinton. “From that moment to this one, every single memory I have of my mom is that regardless what was happening in her life, she was always always there for me”.
“What an incredible honor that you have given me, and I can’t believe we just put the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet”, CNN reported she said.
Speaking at the Democratic Convention, she did not hang about when it came to taking a swipe at Republican rival Donald Trump.
And he told the cheering crowd in Philadelphia: “The Donald is not really a plans guy, he is not really a facts guy either”.
Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg denounced Trump as a “dangerous demagogue” and said his fellow New York billionaire was little more than a con artist with a well-documented record of bankruptcies.
It was only after she had underscored the danger she sees in Trump that she really turned to explaining herself. “I just don’t want you to be shot by someone who shouldn’t have a gun in the first place”, she said.
Watson herself had one of those moments with Clinton leading up to the February 27 primary election.

Trump has hammered Clinton as untrustworthy and cast America as a place where security threats abound and law and order are breaking down.
