Obama urges scrutiny of Trump’s record: ‘This is not entertainment’

House Speaker Paul Ryan says he is “not ready” to endorse presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Ryan’s comments come as Republican lawmakers, donors, and operatives have been grappling with the notion of Trump as the inevitable nominee.

It is no secret that the controversial candidate has evoked strong feelings among both supporters and haters alike, but Knight said that Trump’s controversial remarks, which have alienated certain demographics, is not a significant issue.

While some Republicans still express concern over Donald Trump as their party’s nominee for president, so far none of them live in Louisiana.

“I think with either a Trump presidency or a Hillary Clinton presidency, I think (the) grass-roots will be very happy to have a Republican Congress to hold in check an authoritarian executive branch”, Pope said. He will likely face Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, in the November 8 general election. Donald Trump has defied the odds before, but they are against his achieving this degree of party unity. “You’ve got to tell people what it is you’re going to do and how you’re going to do it”.

When asked by the Wall Street Journal in an interview that published Thursday whether Trump would consider a Democrat, Carson said, “Yes. Our best chance to prevent this from happening is to unite and work hard to elect a Republican president in the fall”. “And we don’t always nominate a Lincoln or a Reagan every four years, but we hope that our nominee aspires to be Lincoln- or Reagan-esque – that that person advances the principles of our party and appeals to a wide, vast majority of Americans”.

Trump’s virtual takeover of the GOP after waging one of the most unorthodox and politically divisive presidential campaign in memory is turning the party into a series of armed camps, raising the specter of civil war by the time of the national convention in Cleveland in July.

“Toomey even refused to do his job in the hopes that Trump would eventually have the chance to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court”.

Trump also accepted the endorsement of the West Virginia Coal Association, a coal miners union in the state. Trump’s numbers in polls against Hillary Clinton may improve as many Republican voters accept him as their nominee. “I think he has to do more to unify this party”. “I don’t have a problem with conservatives still going through this process, who still aren’t sure what they’re going to do in this election”.
