Obama warns about politicians preying on economic anxiety
With more grey hair but no political office to seek, President Obama evoked the campaign passion that propelled him to the White House eight years ago, challenging presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump in his most pointed assault on the NY businessman to date.

“America’s economy is not just better than it was eight years ago”.
He avoided mentioning Donald Trump by name, referring instead to “the Republican nominee”, but was met with shouts of “Donald’s crazy” from some of the 2,000 people packed in a brightly lit gymnasium.
What Obama did not do Wednesday was name Trump, nor Clinton or her rival for the nomination, Vermont Sen.
And in his hour-long remarks, the president twice praised Bill Clinton’s stewardship of the economy, an argument he is likely to continue to make if Hillary Clinton emerges as the Democratic nominee. “Well, what, how exactly are you going to negotiate that?”
The president interjecting himself into the 2016 race could be an important development.
Here’s more from her wide-ranging interview with the president. “And it’s tough for them”, Obama said.”My best interpretation of what our laws and our obligations are is that we should try to accommodate these kids so that they are not in a vulnerable situation”, he said.On May 13, the federal government told public schools they must allow transgender students to use bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity. The non-binding guidance contained the implicit threat of cuts in federal funding if it was not followed.
“This is a president who doesn’t have a clue”, Trump told supporters in California.
May 17, 2009: Delivers commencement address at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, an appearance that drew weeks of criticism from many Catholic bishops and abortion opponents.
When the president was interrupted by boos after he mentioned the “Republican candidate”, the president demanded, “No booing”. “I don’t care whether you’re a Republican, a Democrat, or an Independent”.
Wednesday was Obama’s eighth trip to IN since becoming President. It was perhaps Obama’s most passionate and blunt declaration that his economic policies and his broader vision have worked, at a place that he feels is perhaps the strongest evidence of his administration’s successes.
Obama came to Elkhart, a town of 50,000 in northern in, in February 2009. When I took office, this was the first city I came to. Opposition to the president has been particularly unrelenting in conservative stretches of the Midwest like in, which Obama won in 2008 but lost decisively four years later. “We’re not going to round up 11 million people, we’re not going to put technology back in the box, we’re not going to rip away hard-earned rights for women and minorities and Americans with disabilities”.
The effects of the steps that the President took in 2009 can be seen today in Elkhart, in Montana and across the United States.
Elkhart’s unemployment rate is now below 5 percent.
Meanwhile, Elkhart’s recovery has far more to do with good state and local policies coupled with a rebound in the RV industry than with Obama’s stimulus dollars funding a government-picked project that proved to be an abject failure. Currently, she says the Veterans’ Choice Act kicks in only when veterans can not find an appointment within 30 days or a VA facility outside a 40-mile-radius from their home.

But that message has been challenged strongly over the a year ago, by presidential candidates from both parties, particularly Sanders and Trump.
